Virtualizing the Data Plane and Traffic Steering
Tuesday, February 14, 2017 | 10:00 AM EST (UTC-05:00)

Intended primarily for product users, the Sandbox Community Webinar series provides technical education and exclusive peeks into the latest Sandvine releases to help you get the most out of your investment.

Traditionally, the processing demands of network policy control (e.g., stateful packet processing, complex decision-making, etc.) required proprietary hardware solutions, but technology advances and cost cutting measures have made virtualization a commercially viable alternative.

Transitioning from a purpose-built, proprietary hardware component – a model in which a vendor likely controls every aspect – to a Network Functions Virtualization architecture is considered to be a formidable challenge, where traditional-server virtualization techniques will not be adopted to the data plane.

For Sandvine and our customers, virtualization technology extends our network policy control deployment options, enabling exciting new use cases and extending our proven solutions to new environments.

In this session, Brent Stockman will discuss the considerations for Sandvine's customers as they evaluate designing their NFV architecture. Also, attendees will be introduced to the Traffic Steering Engine and the value it can bring to your virtual deployment.

Some of the topics covered include:
  • Deploying the PTS Virtual Series
  • Virtual data plane deployment concerns
  • Service Function Chaining
  • Traffic steering with Sandvine's latest product, the Traffic Steering Engine
